You have voluntarily shared your personal data with Matchis Caribbean for the purpose of registering as a potential stem cell donor. Your data are managed and securely stored by Matchis in the Netherlands. You can read more about this partnership here.
The protection of your personal data for the purpose of safeguarding your privacy is very important to Matchis. In addition, your personal data are essential for finding a potential match between you and a patient somewhere in the world.

During the registration process, Matchis collects personal data for the following purposes:
- Registering, managing and calling up stem cell donors
- Finding a suitable match between a donor and a patient
Use of personal data when a match is found between a donor and a patient
If a match is found, a minimal set of pseudonymized data is shared with the treating transplant center. This concerns personal and medically relevant data, which are linked to a unique donor number. This safeguards the donor's privacy and protects their identity from the recipient. These data are important for the recipient's treatment and may also be used in scientific research for the purpose of stem cell transplantation.
During the donor's physical examination, additional medical data are collected which are used to rule out any risks associated with the stem cell donation procedure or identify these in a timely manner. For the actual stem cell extraction, the donor's personal data are shared with the hospital's collection center. These data are treated confidentially.
Only Matchis is able to trace the donor using their unique donor number.
