How can I register as a stem cell donor?

Would you like to make a difference for someone in need of a stem cell transplantation?
You can register as a stem cell donor during one of our special stem cell donor drives.

On Aruba, it is possible to register as a stem cell donor during one of these organized events. The donor drives are held in different locations and at different times.

Registration is easy

During the donor drive, you only need to complete a few brief steps:

  1. Check-in
Check if you are eligible to become a stem cell donor. If you are eligible, you will receive a registration kit.  If you are not sure, you can ask any questions via our contact form.
  2. Swab
You easily collect a few samples of your cheek mucosa using three swabs.
  3. Registration form
While the swabs dry, you fill out the online registration form.
  4. Check-out
Place the swabs in the envelope and give it to a representative. We will make sure your samples are sent to the laboratory.

What happens next?

In the laboratory, your cheek mucosa samples are used to determine, among other things, your HLA typing, blood group and CMV status.

This (anonymised) information is then added to a global database of stem cell donors. From then on, you may be called up to actually donate your stem cells and save someone's life.
